If at any time you need to create manual orders within your Shopify backend (eg. for free gifts, replacements), there are a few things to be aware of.
- If it’s a free item, apply the discount at the order level rather than the item level
- An email address for the order – this should be provided when finding or creating a customer in the Shopify backend
- Once you’ve found/created your customer for the order, you’ll then be able to select from your current shipping option rates that you have set up already in your Shopify backend
- If you are offering free shipping but do not have the correct rate set up in your Shopify backend, use the “Custom” option here to enter a matching “Custom rate name” that matches the corresponding paid Shipping rate but enter the reduced value for the shipping
- In the example below, I know that the Free Shipping rate that I currently have set up is only for postage (STD) service – if I want to give free shipping for courier (EXPED) service, then I would enter the exact same name “Expedited (Courier)” as the Custom rate name, but enter 0 for the shipping charge to the customer.
Enter customer details (with email address) before “Add Shipping”:
Shipping Rates currently set up in the Shopify backend that the order has access to:
Offering one of your existing Shipping rates at a reduced rate (free) – very important that you copy over the exact name for your Shipping rate (otherwise the app won’t know which ESG ShippingService (STD/EXPED/EXP) to use for the order) and also provide a charge value (even if it is zero):
NB. Once a custom Shipping Rate has been added when creating a manual order, the custom Shipping Rate may be available for selection when creating another manual order.
